International tourist route "The Blue Highway" exceeds 2000 kilometers, beginning at the Atlantic coast of Norway, passing through the territory of Sweden, Finland and continuing its way into Russia.

Justifying its name, the route runs along the numerous lakes and rivers. The Russian section of the route passes through the territory of the southern and central part of Karelia. This is the most popular way of federal importance, crossing the whole of Karelia from west to east.
